Description

Sensitivity to histamine varies from person to person, with some individuals being more reactive to histamine and other biogenic amines naturally present in foods. Seeking Health DAO Enzyme (previously known as Histamine Digest) provides the patented DAOgest® (diamine oxidase) enzyme, derived from porcine kidney extract, to help support the natural breakdown of histamine within the digestive system — particularly in the small intestine and colon.

Each capsule offers a convenient way to complement your body’s own DAO activity, helping maintain balance when consuming foods and drinks that may contain higher levels of histamine. DAOgest® is a registered, quality-tested form of diamine oxidase known for its role in histamine metabolism in tissues such as the intestines, kidneys, placenta, and prostate.

Directions

  • When taken with meals, DAO Enzyme helps break down histamine found in foods and drinks. Histamine levels will be at a healthy level, which will help alleviate symptoms associated with histamine intolerance.
  • When taken on an empty stomach, DAO Enzyme helps break down histamine produced by the microbiome or your gut’s immune system.

    • This is a great idea to try: Take 1 capsule of DAO Enzyme on an empty stomach to see if you feel better within 30 minutes.
    Why would this be useful? An unhealthy microbiome or an overactive gut immune system produces high amounts of histamine.

    If you feel better, continue using DAO Enzyme on an empty stomach as needed. DAO Enzyme supports a healthy histamine balance in the gut.


    DAO Enzyme may support healthy levels of histamine within the small intestine, colon, kidneys, uterus, appendix, placenta, prostate, or testicles. This is very important as unhealthy levels of histamine within these areas contribute to problems locally or throughout the body.


    Suggested Use:
    As needed, anytime, take 1 capsule before eating or drinking. Alternatively, as needed, take 1 capsule away from food or drink if wanting to support uterine comfort during the menstrual cycle, occasional nausea from pregnancy or healthy histamine levels in your digestive system. Capsules may be opened and sprinkled on a bite of food. Use as directed by your healthcare professional.

    Children 4 years of age and older may use DAO Enzyme. If they cannot swallow the small capsule, you may need to open it and mix in a bite of applesauce.

    Breastfeeding women may use DAO Enzyme. Histamine gets absorbed from the gut and into breastmilk. If breastmilk has higher levels of histamine, the breastfeeding baby may experience colic. Infant colic is associated with higher levels of histamine. Support healthy levels of histamine in your breastmilk by taking DAO Enzyme.

    Pregnant women may use DAO Enzyme if approved by a healthcare professional.
    Occasional nausea and vomiting during pregnancy are associated with high levels of histamine. Levels of histamine in a healthy pregnancy decrease below values found in healthy non-pregnant women. This is because the placenta is designed to produce a lot of the DAO enzyme. However, sometimes, the levels of histamine exceed the ability of the placenta’s DAO enzyme to digest histamine.

    In some complications of pregnancy, maternal blood histamine levels rise above those associated with a healthy pregnancy. Many of the complications of pregnancy, including preeclampsia, preterm labour, spontaneous abortion, and hyperemesis gravidarum, are associated with increased levels of maternal blood histamine. Supporting healthy levels of maternal blood histamine during pregnancy, especially during these complications, may be helpful.

    Excellent product!
    This product is helping me breathe through my nose at night. I finally discovered that high histamine was the cause of my blocked nose at night. I was on a waiting list to have a turbinate reduction in my nose but I knew I needed to find the core cause of the swelling. I take one tablet before meals at night and one tablet of HistaBlock. These are enough to help me breathe without resorting to steroid nasal sprays. I stay away from high histamine food as well. I take two capsules if I know I have had too much histamine food during the day.

    Work!
    These work, helped greatly with breaking down histamine in my gut and quelling associated reactions. I eat a low histamine diet and don’t take these so I can indulge in unhealthy food/drink - but with MCAS and histamine intolerance from mold exposure, unfortunately all foods can trigger symptoms at present. Unfortunately they are expensive and also come from piggies.

    It Works!
    After much deliberation as a vegan, I opted to try this as I’ve got DAO and chronic histamine issues as I detox from [*Condition and claim removed*]. I take about 5 mins before eating, as although on a low histamine diet I still flare up on bad days. Sometimes I’ve had to take two capsules, but mostly one is enough for me. Very grateful to have this, but wish it was able to be sourced more ethically.

    Love this product...recommended by my Naturopath !
    I've got hormonally induced [*condition removed*], and it got really bad as I got into perimenopause . Initially I was put onto this by my naturopath, and it has been a lifesaver for me . I suffer from horrific [*condition removed*] (among other things)and SHHB has really helped to manage high histamine foods that trigger it. A low histamine diet is still a must, but this helps for those odd occasions. I no longer wake up everyday with a stuffy nose , and bloating and [*condition removed*] is more manageable. I've tried a few other brands of DAO, but I've found Seeking Health the most effective. My first review last year for this product was average, because I thought it was causing these little bumps on my upper arm. However, it's only when I stopped taking it for a while, did I realise exactly how effective it's been, and I've never stopped taking it since then.
    I've bought through R2H a few times now, and find their pricing and communication to be good. Customer service is wonderful (Phylline a big thanks for promptly helping me change my order the last time) . They always ship the product out quickly and it comes well packaged. Overall VERY SATISFIED with both Seeking Health Histamine Block & Return 2 Health !
