Chai Tea

Why get it from a cafe when you can make your own!

Ingredients



2 cups cold water
½ cup cream (or coconut milk if dairy-free)
1 to 2 Tbsp honey (to taste preference)
2-inch piece cinnamon stick, break into pieces
2 tsp black tea
¼-inch-thick slice fresh ginger
3 whole cloves
Seed of 3 cardamom pods
2 black peppercorns

METHOD



This spicy chai is warming and sweet, ideal on your afternoon coffee break or cosied on the couch as an evening treat!

  1. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. Add the spices - cinnamon, tea, ginger, cloves, cardamom, peppercorns. Cover. Boil for 2 minutes and remove from heat.
  3. Let sit and steep for 5 minutes.
  4. Add honey and cream.
  5. Pour mixture through a fine strainer into a teapot, discarding the solids.


To serve, garnish with cinnamon sticks.
